Sunday Serenade concert

Soundings Vocal Ensemble “Songs for a Winter’s Afternoon” offers Music from Medieval and Renaissance times, from Scotland, England and the Continent, Africa, and French Canada and by contemporary songwriters with instrumental background including Denis Donnelly (Irish harp) and guest performers Rosemary Beland (hammer dulcimer), Lanny Pollet (flute) and Molly Raher Newman (percussion) 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7, St. Mary’s Church, Saanichton 1973 Cultra Ave at East Saanich Road. Parkland hosts winter concert

Students welcome everyone to Parkland secondary’s Winter Band Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Parkland school theatre, 10640 McDonald Park Road. The concert will feature both the Parkland concert and jazz bands with special guests The Greater Victoria Concert Band. Admission by donation. For information call the school at 250-655-2700.

Messiah highlights soloists

Via Choralis, directed by Nicholas Fairbank, presents Messiah, by G. F. Handel, Sat., Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. Concerts are in the St. Elizabeth’s Church, 10030 Third Street, Sidney. The show will feature the talents of soloists Brandon MacLeod, treble, Monica Orso, soprano, Daniel Amezcua, counter-tenor, Jeremy Notheisz, tenor and Steven De Vries, bass.
