Seeking a few good men... and women

The Peninsula Singers, considered one of the region’s top choirs, are looking for additional singers for their Christmas concerts.

This year, the concerts will be titled “Wonderful Christmastime,” from the song penned by Paul McCartney. And, as usual, the Chorus will be conducted by Glenda Korella, the group’s dynamic and inspiring leader.

Riding high after their April concerts titled “Get Happy With a Salute to Canada,” the Chorus is looking for tenors, basses and sopranos to perform in their upcoming Christmas concerts. The concerts, to take place December 3, 4 and 5 at the Mary Winspear Centre, will include a wide array of Christmas songs, both traditional and non-traditional--the Beach Boys versus popular arranger of songs for the season, John Rutter.

“Singing with the Peninsula Singers is one of the best things I did when I moved to North Saanich,” says Lynda Spence, president of the Singers and an alto.

“I love the camaraderie, the fun we have and I feel uplifted after rehearsals --- no matter how tired I may have been when I walked in the door,” she adds.

If interested in an audition, email Lynda.spence@shaw.ca or call 250-656-4476.

It’s helpful if you’ve had some experience in a choir and can read music.
