Mrs. Doehring’s Grade 1 class used a microphone from FrontRow, to help enhance National Show and Tell Day.

The students said it made them “louder” and that the microphone was “cool.” “It makes more people listen,” one little girl reported. “Because we can hear [them] better.”

Mrs. Doehring too thinks the student mic is great. “The kids love to hear their voice and allows children who are shy or quiet to come out of their shell and be heard. It encourages turn taking. When one child is talking, the others seem to be naturally more attentive. The big focus of the language arts curriculum is oral language development and this certainly is a new and innovative tool to engage children in speaking.”
