A brief tribute to the military was held during the Naden Band of the Maritime Forces Pacific’s appearance at the Summer Sounds Concert.

Honoured guests at the concert were Captain (N) Marcel J.M. Hallé, Base Commander, Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt and Colonel Jeffery B. Morris, Honorary Colonel, 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron.

“On behalf of council and our community I would like to express thanks to each and every one of our military ad reserve members for their service and commitment to our country,” said Sidney councillor Kenny Podmore on behalf of mayor Larry Cross. “The courage and dedication of the Canadian Forces members who serve Canada by defending its values, interests and sovereignty at home and abroad reinforces how proud and fortunate we are to be Canadians.”

Marcel responded with a small gift for the town, a photograph of the Naden Band. “As members of our great Canadian Forces, I want to thank you for your support and the dedication you have for what we do,” he said.

Morris also thanked the town and complimented the Naden Band on its performance. “I would like to thank Sidney council for dedicating today’s concert to the Canadian Forces,” he said.

He also thanked the citizens for their support. “443 is Sidney’s own squadron and I thank you all for supporting her.”
