The latest cycling corridor to crop up on the Peninsula is official. Municipal staff, council members and the general public hopped on bikes and took the new route along East Saanich Road to arrive for the ceremonial ribbon cutting Friday.
“This is a partnership between communities, but it’s also a partnership with our senior government because this would not have been possible without the assistance of the provincial government,” said Alice Finall, mayor of North Saanich. “In North Saanich, and I think it’s very much true also in Central Saanich, cycling is a big part of our lives.”

The organization is a non-profit social, employment, health, recreational, housing and volunteer services agency, providing its resources to the Saanich Peninsula and the Capital Regional District. Now in her 15th year with BCS, Mackenzie has seen the demand for such an organization grow, and has helped it flourish.
