Rugby’s Russians are coming, too

Come Nov. 24, Victoria will be teeming with Russians.

Rugby Canada officially announced the Tuesday, Nov. 24 game between the B.C. Bears and Team Russia at Brockton Oval has been moved to City Centre Stadium in Langford. Game time is 7 p.m.

The rugby game happens one night before the Western Hockey League’s All-Stars play the Russian national junior team at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Nov. 25.

It will be the first International Rugby Board test at City Centre, and first time Russia is visiting Canada, as well as the first IRB sanctioned game on artificial turf in Canada.

When Ireland visited team Canada at UBC for an IRB rugby match in May it drew 8,000 people.

Tickets to the B.C. Bears versus Russia rugby game are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Kids 18-and-under are $5 advance, $10 at the gate. Tickets are available online at www.cardticketing.com.
