Vikes', Bays' runners impress at Nats

Marilyn Arsenault, the 40-year-old first year runner on the University of Victoria Vikes cross-country team, finished sixth in the open women’s division at the AGSI Canadian National Cross Country Championship race in Guelph, Ont., this week.
The top six athletes from each race will represent Canada at the NACAC cross country championships March 8, 2009 in Orlando, Fla.
A top three finish by the Canadian team in Orlando secures the team a berth to the world cross country championships March 28, 2009 in Jordan.
Also qualifying for the national team was Oak Bay high and Pacific Athletics Track and Field club standout Justine Johnson who finished fifth in the junior women’s race.
Dylan Haight of Oak Bay high finished 14th in the junior boys race and earned an invitation to the national junior men’s team competition pool. Laurel Draper, also of Oak Bay, was 23rd in the junior women’s race.
