Would-be thieves were polite

A pair of polite vandals left a Newport Avenue condominium parkade empty-handed after their heist was interrupted last week.

A resident walking into the gated parkade in the 1100-block of Newport interrupted two ‘20-something’ men, who “brushed by her, apologizing as they exited,” an Oak Bay police report said.

The resident noticed nearby storage lockers had been broken into, but a tally of items later showed nothing was taken.

The gated parkade had not been broken into, suggesting the would-be thieves slipped in unnoticed following a resident. Police have no suspects.

Oak Bay waters not so safe

Electronic equipment and survival gear were taken in a June 27 theft from a sail boat anchored in Oak Bay. Anyone with information regarding this incident are asked to call Oak Bay police.
