Olympic warm-up rewarded in Oak Bay
Oak Bay Recreation Centre has been awarded a bundle of goodies.
As part of the build-up to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Ida Chong presented Oak Bay Recreation Centre staff with boxes of Act Now water bottles, pedometers, T-shirts and lanyards last week, to recognize the centre's efforts in promoting the Winter Games.
To garner the prize, Oak Bay Rec. hosted a free night of swimming, skating and other activities in the indoor sports arena and tennis court back on Feb. 13. Olympic athletes came to meet community members and thrilled children and adults alike with medals and stories of the Olympic Games.
