Thief targets home on Remembrance Day

A Lenovo laptop computer, Nikon camera, Nikon SP28 flash, Olympus digital camera, Rolex men’s watch and a jewelry box containing numerous items were stolen from a home in the 700 block of Monterey Ave. on Nov. 11. Police say entry was gained through an unlocked back door between 4-5:30 p.m. The total value of stolen property is estimated at more than $10,000.
Trumpet stolen from UVic building
A Vincent Bach Stradivarius trumpet was stolen from a University of Victoria building sometime between Nov. 9-10. The trumpet was left unattended in the building at the time. The trumpet is valued at $2,400 and has Stradivarius written in gold lettering on it.
Windsor Park building given a graffiti make-over
Last weekend Windsor Park pavilion became a hot spot for graffiti. Police say profanity involving the Oak Bay Police Department was spray painted on the shed doors of one of the buildings along with the tag name "SOB." A tag is a signature used by a graffiti artist to distinguish themselves from others.
Laundry machines targeted again
Another building in Oak Bay had its laundry machines tampered with, this time a senior's complex on Elgin Street. Sometime overnight between Nov. 16-17 about $10 in coins were stolen from several machines located in the complex's basement. The damage to the machines is estimated at $200.
