Local rap-folk duo Jon and Roy, who recently opened for Canadian hip-hop artist Buck 65 on some dates in the U.K., is kicking off the Christmas season with a talented group of friends.
The Jon and Roy Holiday Special, set for Dec. 6 at the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Alix Goolden Hall, will see Jon Middleton and Roy Vizer – the duo released their sophomore album Another Noon in May – share the stage with a variety of local artists.
Included are Ryan Guildemond (Mother Mother), acoustic trio Current Swell, the Haints Old-Time Stringband (Outlaw Social/Erynn Marshall), Adam and Antonia (Jets Overhead), Laura Smith, Jean-Paul Maurice (Maurice) and Stephen Franke (Noises from the Toolshed).
The event will be recorded and rebroadcast by CBC Radio 2 Canada Live, with a portion of the proceeds plus collected donations going to the Mustard Seed Food Bank.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Tickets are available at Lyle’s Place, Ditch Records, online at www.ticketweb.com and www.jonandroy.ca or at the door if still available.
