Belfry roast to honour patron

Thirty-four years ago Paddy Stewart and three other Victoria theatre lovers invested $2,000 each in a fledgling theatre.
Next month Stewart will be feted at a roast honouring his contributions to the Belfry Theatre. The Aug. 23 event kicks off at 7 p.m. with wine and hors d’oeuvres in the Belfry lobby. At 8 the festivities move to the mainstage with the roast hosted by former Belfry board member, Brian Winsby.
Roasters include actor Rod Beattie and former and current staff and board members like Richard Brownsey, Barbara Greeniaus, Bruce Housser, Isobel Mackenzie, as well as Faye Wightman, president and CEO of the Vancouver Foundation.
A barbecue with music by The Bills is included. In keeping with Paddy’s signature cowboy boots, guests are asked to wear Western duds. Tickets are $75. Call the Belfry box office at 250-385-6815.
