Mystic journey into improvised music
The Church of Truth is hosting a night of new world music, ancient sacred poetry and a whirling dervish on Friday, Dec. 12.
The featured performer is Saffron, backed by Niel Golden on percussion. Golden recently released his first solo CD titled It’s A Journey, which was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award.
The Church of Truth is located at 111 Superior St. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at the door.
Solstice celebrated with swinging jazz
Vocalist Carol Sokoloff and Trio Espresso present a concert titled Our Favourite Things, featuring swinging jazz with Kenny Seidman on piano, Mike Cox on bass and Kelby McNayr on drums.
Hermann’s is known for hosting a multitude of jazz-centric shows, many of them organized by MacNayr, a regular in the local jazz scene.
The show takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Hermann’s Jazz Club, 753 View St. For more information call 388-9166.
