Parkside event
a prostate fundraiser
Art at Parkside combines the work of three area artists with food and wine to raise funds for prostate cancer research and increase prostate cancer awareness.
The exhibition, set for this Thursday (Nov. 26) features the Victoria- and West Coast-inspired work of photographer Maria Hutchison and painters Erica Messing and Craig Bauer. The showing runs from 1 to 4 p.m., with tea and goodies served. An evening showing starts at 6, with one donated item from each of the artists up for bids in a silent auction.
Parkside Victoria Resort and Spa is at 810 Humboldt St.
African rhythms
beckon dancers
It’ll be all drumming, all the time this Saturday at the Victoria Event Centre.
An African rhythm and dance party features live music including Wontanara Drum and Dance, the UVic Afro-Rhythm Ensemble, Victoria Percussion Orchestra and other special guests.
Start time is 7:30 p.m. at 1415 Broad St. Tickets are available at www.drumvictoria.com.
