Thousands will make their way to the Saanich Fairgrounds this weekend to honour the Peninsula’s farming heritage for the 142nd annual Saanich Fair.

This year’s entertainment includes Karly Summers, Bill and Marie Sweetwater, the Capital City Cloggers, Cynthia Davis, Shady Mountain, the Timebenders and more.

Dozens of cultural and agricultural displays will be open, plus home-made treats and locally grown veggies at a farmer’s market. And don’t forget the large midway. For more on the Saanich Fair, go to www.saanichfair.ca.

Classic boats cruise into harbour

Also this weekend, up to 100 classic sail and power boats will file into the Inner Harbour for the Victoria Real Estate Board and Black Press Classic Boat Festival.

A classic rowing regatta happens at 10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 5) starting near the Gorge Narrows and finishing at Undersea Gardens. Also that day, a steamboat parade goes at 2 p.m. in the Inner Harbour, then all vessels leave at 10:30 a.m. for a Sunday sailpast.

Visit www.classicboat festival.ca for information.
