Sometimes a change is as good as a rest.
Oscar Corletto and Diane Nichol have moved a substantial portion of their finished Killer Beads stock into a new Oak Bay Avenue shop, Bling.
“You can’t get much more local than us,” Corletto said, referring to a sign telling customers their jewelry is made locally.
He, Nichol and her son, Michael, make most of the jewelry, using beads and precious stones. On display are earrings – “our best sellers” – as well as necklaces, bracelets and bangles.
There is also imported fine quality silver pendants from India and a select collection of Inuit sculpture and prints. A few antiques seconded from Killer Beads, 2004 Oak Bay Ave., are tucked at the rear of the store.

And another one’s gone
Opening an all-day restaurant in tough economic times didn’t turn out to be a good idea.
Blue Coast opened last April in the Oak Bay Avenue space vacated by Verjus. Blue Coast closed its doors before Christmas, however. Osaka Sushi will soon open at the spot at 1951 Oak Bay Ave.
