The Victoria Highlanders defeated Victoria United 3-0 at an exhibition soccer match dubbed Victoria Derby Charity Shield. The Thursday night game raised more than $1,000 toward Multiple Sclerosis Kick for the Cure in what both teams hope will be an annual event.

Victoria United play out of Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, in the Pacific Coast Soccer League. The Highlanders play in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League, and are based at City Centre Park in Langford.
