Malahat crash claims Langford father
Updated: October 05, 2009 4:43 PM
A three-car pileup on the Malahat this weekend resulted in one death and three others injured.
Ted Carino, 33, of Langford was pronounced dead on scene after the Honda Civic he was driving crossed the center line and collided with oncoming traffic. He was a father of two and co-owner of People's Pharmacy in Mill Bay.
Carino’s car hit a northbound Jeep Liberty around 6:20 p.m. Oct. 2. The driver of a pickup truck then crashed into the Jeep. Three people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Malahat was closed for four hours while emergency services and RCMP attended the scene.
“A mechanical inspection is being done today just to see if anything could be attributed to the vehicle,” West Shore RCMP Cpl. Gerry Sutherland said Monday, Oct. 5. “It is believed that speed could be involved and just a sudden movement across the centre line.”
Anyone with information relating to this crash is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
