Langford was hit with two armed robberies on Jacklin Road Tuesday morning, possibly by the same lone female.
West Shore RCMP say a woman entered the Mac’s convenience store at Sooke and Jacklin roads at about 1:45 a.m., flashed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money. The manager of the store said the lone clerk was unharmed and the woman got away with less than $100.
Cpl. Gerry Sutherland said a police dog was called out but it couldn’t pick up a scent.
At 6:40 a.m., a woman entered the nearby Esso gas station and flashed a firearm. Taking an undisclosed amount of cash, she fled north on Jacklin Road on foot. The clerk was unharmed.
“It’s usual for the West Shore to get two robberies back to back,” Sutherland remarked.
Police can’t say for sure if both robberies involved the same woman, but are checking video surveillance from the two locations. Cpl. Scott Braes said Tuesday afternoon RCMP are following up on a lead, but no arrest has been made.
The suspect at the Mac’s robbery is described as a white female, 25 to 35 years old, wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt with two white stripes and a dark strip down both arms. The suspect at the Esso robbery is described as a white female, about 30 years old, 5’10” of medium build.
Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 474-2264. People with information can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
