Halloween at City Centre Park is getting a little spooky.

A Halloween party for the family will kick off the early evening. Ghosts, ghouls and all other creatures are invited to partake in hay rides and activities such as feeling what’s inside the ooey gooey mystery boxes, said Gerry St. Cyr, operator of City Centre Park.

A costume parade and the costume contest for kids and their parents kicks off at 6 p.m. “There will be candy for everyone too,” St. Cyr said.

Kids can participate in fun and spooky activities such as pumpkin bowling and bouncing eyeballs. The Play Zone and mini golf will also be open during the party.

“This will be the best Halloween party ever,” St. Cyr said. “This is the first year we are doing it, but next year we are going to turn the whole arena into a haunted house.”

Once the families have cleared out for the evening, the teenagers can come rolling in for the ultimate Rock Band video game competition, using a Nintendo Wii.

“The teens will get to play on a real stage, in a real arena,” St. Cyr said. “When else will they get to do that?”

The teenager costume contest is at 10 p.m.

Free public inline skating is also available for family and teen events. The concession is open for both events.

Admission to events is free, but charges will apply for the Play Zone, mini golf and skate rentals.

The Langford Trolley is running continuously from Westshore Town Centre to City Centre Park from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. After that the trolley will remain parked at City Centre Park and offer rides back to the mall when needed.

The family Halloween party is Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and the teen Rock Band party is from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

All events are at City Centre Park, 1089 Langford Pkwy.
