Steely Langford men are headed to prison this weekend to help fundraise for kidney disease in the Round Em’ Up, Bail Em’ Out campaign.

Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist Jeff Wardill and Garet Andrews, general manager of Rona, will be arrested by their respective staff and jailed in a portable prison at their stores this week.

Wardill is scheduled to hit the slammer on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. at Shoppers at Westshore Town Centre. Andrews is scheduled to go behind bars Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11:30 p.m. at Rona.

Friends and employees will put up money to keep their bosses locked up. Both men will need to figure out how to raise enough bail money to escape the six-foot by six-foot cage made at Rona.

The event is designed to raise awareness of kidney disease.

“Once a person has severe kidney failure, they are connected to a dialysis machine three to seven times a week in order to stay alive. To many, this feels like a jail sentence,” said Pia Schindler of the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
