RRU hosts forum on Canada’s international role
Military and security experts will be discussing Canada’s role in overseas security and development at Royal Roads University on Thursday.
Roger Girouard, former Commander Joint Task Force Pacific and Maritime Forces Pacific, and an associate faculty member in the school of peace and conflict management, will lead a public discussion on Canada’s role on the international stage.
“While governance and security can be decidedly un-glamourous topics to discuss, they touch virtually every part of our daily lives,” Girouard said.
Pirate hunter Cmdr. Craig Baines, former captain of HMCS Winnipeg, researcher Rosemary Cairns and Department of National Defense analysts Peter Gizewski and Christopher Tait round out the panel.
The talk is part of a larger forum at RRU with policy-makers, academics and students on establishing a centre for governance and security at the campus.
The free public panel discussion takes place in the Mews Conference Centre at RRU from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 15.
