Langford angler Peter Willing snagged one of the largest trout to come out of Langford Lake at 8 pounds 1 ounce during the Loghouse Pub's fishing derby last weekend.

There aren't any official records, but Willing said in 44 years of fishing at the lake, he's never seen any fish even close to that size. The second place trout in the catch-and-release derby was one lb. 10 oz.

The record fish will be stuffed and mounted at the pub as the trophy and mascot for future derbies. Twenty people participated in the June 28 event.
