Wednesday

The City of Colwood invites residents to two workshops examining secondary suite issues Wednesday, Oct. 15, 7 to 9 pm. Colwood city hall, 3300 Wishart Rd. The second workshop is Oct. 23.

Friday

Capital Families ASSOCIATION, with the support of COBS Breads, is offering free baked goods to community families Fridays, 10 a.m. at 345 Wale Rd. Call 250-391-4324 for more information.

Highlands Pioneer reunion, Oct. 18. The celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Caleb Pike homestead. Members of the Langham Court Theatre will perform readings of Beautiful Rocks- A History of the Highland District. Shows at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. For tickets or more information call Daphne at 250-478-7338.

View Royal Fire Rescue hosts an open house Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire hall, 280 Island Hwy. Fire truck rides, demonstrations, hot dogs and more will be offered. For more information call 250-479-7322.

848 Royal Roads Air Cadets are canvassing West Shore businesses Saturday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Air Cadet tote bags will be for sale and the group accepts cash donations. Call 250-478-0160 or go to www.support848.com for more information.

In celebration of the 125 anniversary of the Caleb Pike homestead, a catered dinner followed by traditional country dancing will take place on Oct. 19. Colwood Anglican Church’s Jazz Vespers Series ventures into new territory with a solo piano gig, Oct. 19, 7:30 p.m. Chris Donnelly is a Toronto-based pianist, composer and improviser known for his musicality, versatility and ability to captivate an audience.
