It was a challenging day for drivers at Tri-Port Speedway during the Father’s Day races June 21.
Kelly Russell was driving his number 08 car for the second time this year, but didn’t get very far.
Russell’s car died in the middle of the track during the first heat, and had to be pushed by number four Paul Weeks back to the pit.
Russell attempted to return in the second half, but was forced to make a few trips to the pit due to mechanical problems before calling it a day.
In the Busch class, Patrick Gullacher in the number .67 car was forced to sit and watch the end of the first half after careening into the tires on the first corner of the track and getting a flat tire.
He was back for the second half, but not for long. After taking a hit from Terry Olfrey in the number 333 car, Patrick Gullacher suffered another flat tire and was done for the day. The jostle was payback from Olfrey, who Patrick Gullacher had sent spinning into the corner on the previous lap.
Olfrey also took his homemade dune buggy out on the track, but only managed to do one lap before breaking a U-joint.
Bram Dalton, who clocked a fast-time of 26.07, rode his motorbike around the track to entertain the crowd during breaks.
Daniel Hovey, in the number 7 car, continued his winning ways in the stock class, winning the trophy dash and the first heat and placing second in the second heat.
Lance Gullacher took first place in the 20-lap stock car main event, with Paul Weeks finishing second and Hovey third. At the end of the race, Lance Gullacher and Hovey pulled up to the finish line and put on a smoke show for the crowd.
Olfrey took first place 12-lap Busch class main event, followed by Russell in second and Patrick Gullacher in third.
