'Misleading' info trashed
Dear editor,
In our opinion, the spin and misinformation from the Regional District of Mount Waddington, and the recent editions of the North Island Gazette regarding the Malcolm Island waste issue, are very misleading and disrespectful.
Most Malcolm Islanders would agree there needs to be a better solution to deal with our garbage than using the current dump site.
This should be an opportunity to create a progressive and smart plan, that will prioritize reducing, reusing and recycling.
Sadly, the options and ideas brought forward that would require a change of direction in the thinking of the regional district, have been ignored.
Back road dumping is currently not a problem on Malcolm Island, but will it become one if the regional district pushes forward with their agenda.
The real travesty of the regional district’s cookie cutter plan is it lacks vision and common sense.
Could the reason for railroading taxpayers on Malcolm Island be dollars and sense? Haste makes waste.
