Garbage cans would assist

Dear editor,
We have just finished an amazing 48 hours in your community.
We came up to camp two nights at San Jo, as we quickly learned you call our destination.
We spent one glorious afternoon and night there, only to have our holiday cut short by the news that our van was in shambles, and that there were two bears sleeping in it.
In our disaster and disappointment, we only found outstanding kindness, including Doug at San Jo Recreation Campground, the park staff who waited to give us as many garbage bags as we needed to begin the cleanup and the men we never did meet who got the bears out of our van.
When we told a group of hikers about our news, Lyle told us to go see Boris of Boris’ Mobile Repair about a new window. So hope sprang up even there.
Boris was terrific and generous and even told us about Rob’s Paint and Autobody on Byng Road, who could help us with installation.
We never did meet Rob, but his buddy Justin, who was just visiting, met us at Boris’s. He installed a whole door and a seat over at Rob’s.
The whole staff at Rob’s were so helpful and kind in assisting us. They gave us water and took the garbage left by the bears’ devastation, which was an incredible kindness as we could not find anywhere else or anyone else who would.
We tried to pay Justin, for all his time and expert help, but he just smiled and said something about it being a gift ... that’s just how they do things up here. So thanks to each of you.

P.S. - Our problem began because there is no obvious garbage disposal for people going into and out of Cape Scott. There are none and it is very needed.
We petition the powers that be to place adequate garbage disposal at the beginning of this road near Port Hardy, with a huge sign warning people that it’s the last garbage disposal they’ll see until they return to this spot. We refuse to litter and sure needed somewhere to put the garbage.
