Pastors minister in Alert Bay

ALERT BAY - The House of Prayer hosted a five-day conference, from Sept. 17 to 21 on Cormorant Island.

The services were shifted from the House of Prayer to the Recreation Centre to accommodate the large crowd that came.

People could attend at least three services each day, starting at 10:00 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The House of Prayer provided three meals a day on four of those days.

Attending the gathering was a mix of families, children and elders.

Many remember the anointing, fellowship, laughter, and the need to continue praying for the problems in the communities.

The main guest ministers were Dr. Jay Swallow and gospel-singing Pastor Tony Smith, who travelled from Oklahoma and Idaho for the event.

Many other ministries were included, with more than 10 pastors participating in the gathering.

Pastor Tony Smith had many on their feet, moving to the beat and singing along.

Pastor Hillard Smith, Tony’s father, jammed with his grandson before preaching and lead many songs of praise.

Local singer Norman Charlie, with his group the Band of Brothers from Port Hardy, led many songs of worship over the five days.

Pastor Medric Wadhams organized the conference, with help from his wife Dora and daughter Roxanne. Dora and Roxane worked hard, with help from others, to prepare food.

Pastor Dixon Taylor also helped make this conference a success.
