Run for the Cure raises $10,500

PORT McNEILL – More than 100 North Islanders braved the rain to Run for a Cure Oct. 5.

The annual run from the Ministry of Forest office to the CIBC raises money for breast cancer research and support through the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

This year more than $10,500 were raised at the North Island event.

Nationwide, the Run for the Cure raised more than $28.5 million.

This year North Islanders were motivated by women like Port McNeill's Carolyn Dame who is currently fighting breast cancer. She attended the run and cut the starting line ribbon.

For more information on Run for the Cure or to donate to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation go to www.cbcf.org.
