After winning two of three exhibition games then losing their regular season opener 3-1 to Oceanside, the Drewry Electrical Female Bantam Chiefs travelled to Kerry Park for their second league game on Oct. 24 and posted a convincing 13-0 win.
Kerry Park started strong, and Chiefs’ goalie Taylor Buell had to make a great blocker save in the first minute. The Chiefs quickly took over the momentum, and Buell and her goalie partner Krysten Scarsbrook weren’t tested much the rest of the game.
The Chiefs made some great passes and fired shot after shot at the Kerry Park goalie. Elaina Drewry led the scoring parade with four goals, Jasna Ramsden netted three and Jill Franceschini tallied twice. All the Chiefs played well at both ends of the ice, and were rewarded with more goals from Gillian Ellsay, Sarah Kendall, Kaela Giomo and Brittany Dame.
Emily Mirabelli, Mikayla Green and Hannah Bolton did a good job keeping the puck inside the Kerry Park blue line and made some great rushes from their defensive positions. After playing well on defence for the first half of the game, Jessica MacLean and Taylor Berg-Stromquist moved up to forward and made some good offensive plays. Absent for this game, but making valuable contributions in the first four games were Anita Fisher and Danielle Poirier.
