The Komox Canucks took it on the chin Friday morning, losing 17-1 to the REBL Phillies in quarter-final playoff action at the MSBL World Series in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Phillies finished second in their 45 Central division tier with a 5-1 record while the Canucks were third in their tier with a 4-2 record.

The So-Cal Sundevils went undefeated to win the division championship. After racking up six straight wins in round robin play the Sundevils beat Michigan RIT Music 19-9 in the quarter-finals and the Phillies 13-1 in the semifinals, both games on Friday. They then completed the sweep Saturday with a 12-6 win over the San Antoinio Reds.

The Canucks concluded round robin play in their six-team tier Thursday afternoon with a 15-6 win over the Omaha Black Sox.

Big-run games were both the boon and the bane of the local squad. On Wednesday morning, they whipped the Des Moines Bruins 19-12 only to fall 19-9 to the Sundevils a few hours later. After blowing out the Black Sox 17-1 Monday in their tourney opener, the Komox crew lost 9-5 to Auburn Braves that afternoon. On Tuesday they blanked the Tuscon Cactus Rally Reds 9-0.
