The Comox Valley Evolution (formerly Red Hot Tamales) U17 rep girls soccer team played their second match of the season against Campbell River on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The Evolution started out strong and got an early goal as Luci Koebel made a quick pass up to Anneliese McNaughton.  She moved the ball up to Rebecca Williams who made a nice rush then finished well. There was lots of end-to-end action throughout the first half and Natalie deLange made some great saves for the Evolution.

Campbell River scored in the opening minute of play during the second half and then quickly netted a second goal to take a 2-1 lead.

The Evolution created some good scoring opportunities but they weren’t able to capitalize on them. Campbell River also had many shots on net and  despite many good saves by Jessica Cain, C.R. tallied two more to take a 4-1 win.

A team spokesperson said it was a solid team effort by the Evolution, who had one sub to Campbell River’s five. “The team is looking forward to a rematch when both teams are playing  at full strength.

“Evolution players and parents are looking forward to the new season and to working with the coaching staff of Craig Tilley, Ron Quilter and Pete Tomko,” the spokesperson said.
