Kip Keylock is local businessman with a trade background, who has invested much time and effort into his and his family’s chosen hometown of Courtenay.
Being new to politics allows Kip to bring a much-needed ‘real world’ understanding to support the council table.
“Local government primarily deals with tax and land use policies,” Keylock states. “I will always support policies that reflect sustainable development and encourage innovation.” Being a strong advocate for Smart Growth principles, he supports thoughtful development to improve economic and social sustainability, while maintaining a well-balanced community. “Competitive commercial taxes are essential for encouraging business activity, such as a new Courtenay Costco,” he says, and confirms he would work hard to encourage this type of development, if it were to be publicly supported in our area. “It’s positive action that promotes jobs for us and our children.” Keylock states Langford as one example, knowing our current city council is considering ways to use their successful methods to attract the right projects, and people. “After all, it comes down to people and how we deal with one another.” Contribute to our future by electing the best prepared, most qualified, and enthusiastic candidate.
