This is an example of what you might see at the Brushworks exhibit this month at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox.

A visit to the latest Brushworks show at Comox’s Pearl Ellis Gallery, opening Nov. 4, will captivate the interest of visitors with the variety and quality of paintings on display.

Brushworks is an organization consisting of 26 artists who meet once a week at the Lions Den in Comox to paint together, share ideas, and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Brushworks has been an active group for almost 10 years. The members inspire, challenge and support each other in a friendly atmosphere that produces effective artistic results as they explore light, colour and form, translating what they see to canvas, paper or board.

The group consists of watercolourists, acrylic painters, oil painters and printmakers, and includes such well-known local artists as Ruth Dickson, Betty Boyle, Roberta Zander, Sofie Skapski and Brenda Calhoun.

Brushworks is a popular group for local artists and there is always a waiting list to join.

The Brushworks show at the Pearl Ellis Gallery runs Nov. 4 to 26. The gallery is open from 1 to 4 p.m. daily.

The public is invited to join the artists for a reception Saturday, Nov. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the gallery located at 1729 Comox Ave. (lower level). A representative from the group will be on hand each day of the show to discuss the artworks and answer any questions you may have.

The Pearl Ellis Gallery will be closed this Sunday for the AGM being held in the Lions Den at 1 p.m., and also on Remembrance Day, Nov. 11.
