Five Comox Valley business are among the finalists in the running for the fourth annual Mid-Island Science, Technology & Innovation Council (MISTIC) Awards.
Three Courtenay businesses/individuals including Stewart Savard, School District 71 Comox Valley (ASTTBC Leadership in Technology award category); Kyuquot SEAfoods Ltd. (Aquaculture — Finfish award category) and Eatmore Sprouts & Greens Ltd. (Food and Beverage award category) are among the finalists.
Island TimberFrame Ltd. (Value Added Products award category) in Cumberland and Fanny Bay Oysters in (Aquaculture - Shellfish award category) were also recognized as finalists.
This Thursday, the awards will be handed out at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre during National Technology Week.
MISTIC presents these awards to highlight and recognize companies and individuals that have demonstrated passion, commitment, sound business practices and innovative thinking. The science and technology sectors within the MISTIC region are often referred to as the hidden industries as many people are not aware of the innovative entrepreneurs and businesses that are creating and developing cutting edge products and services.
The event brings these activities to the forefront and provides acknowledgment and gratitude to the diverse innovators for their determination, hard work and creativity.
