New Campbell River hospital construction closer
Construction of a new hospital in Campbell River could be only two years away.
Coun. Claire Moglove reported to council this week about discussions at the Comox-Strathcona Regional Hospital District Board’s last meeting. She said she came away with a new sense of the timeline for plans for the hospital.
“It is the number one capital priority for VIHA,” she said.
The health authority will go the the provincial government by the end of this year with a business case.
If the province decides to pursue the case further, it could be between six and eighteen months before the new hospital gets a green light.
“It seems to becoming more a reality all the time,” Moglove said.
