The City of Campbell River’s Parks, Recreation & Culture team offers all sorts of opportunities for children to learn leadership and life skills.

Youth 11 years and older can sign up for Babysitting Know How and learn how to be a responsible babysitter. This course includes learning about baby care, feeding children, age-appropriate games and activities, house safety and some first aid. This course runs Mondays, Nov. 9 to Dec. 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Youth 11 years and older can also register for First Aid for Babysitters. This invaluable course teaches youth first aid basics, including how to manage emergency scenes and treat emergency situations sometimes encountered while caring for young children. This course runs Friday, October 23 from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Kids are always hungry after school, and children in grades 4 to 6 can learn how to prepare nutritious and tasty afterschool snacks – safely and with nutrition in mind – with Kids in the Kitchen. They’ll learn kitchen layout, safety and cooking basics. This program runs Mondays, Nov. 16 to Dec. 7 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

For more details about this program or any other youth activities, please check out the City of Campbell River Parks, Recreation & Culture Recreation Guide or call the Sportsplex, 250-923-7911, or the Community Centre, 250-286-1161.
