Olympic torch reaches Parksville
Crowds of people lined the streets of Parksville Sunday morning to welcome Cliff Reynolds, who ran the Olympic torch across the iconic orange bridge and into the city at 9 a.m.
From there, the torch was passed on every 300 meters until it reached the Community Park — where a city-sponsored party was already underway.
Posing for photos and interviews, the relay runners gathered for a greeting by Mayor Ed Mayne, MLA Ron Cantelon and MP James Lunney, before heading out up Highway 4A and on to Coombs and points beyond.
