Canada Day shines in Parksville
Updated: July 02, 2009 9:26 AM
Thousands of people lined Highway 19A Wednesday morning for Canada's 142nd birthday and Parksville's famous Canada Day parade.
People came from all over western Canada to take in one of the largest Canada Day events on Vancouver Island.
The day is not over - not by a long shot. This afternoon, the Community Park is filled with vendors, midway games, activities for the whole family.
Today's special events include a full slate of music and entertainment in the park — including Canadian icons Chilliwack (set to go on stage at 8 p.m. tonight) on stage this evening.
At dusk - at around 10 p.m. - it's the Thrifty Foods fireworks show, as seen from the bay in Parksville's Community Park.
