Cyclist hospitalized in crash

One man was rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Friday afternoon after a crash between a vehicle and a bicycle.
Oceanside RCMP Corporal Garry Cox said police were called to the scene on Highway 19A after a cyclist riding east in the westbound lane struck a vehicle pulling out of the Tim Horton’s parking lot at 3:25 p.m.
The cyclist, a 67-year-old Parksville man, suffered non life-threatening injuries in the crash. The 79-year-old Ladysmith resident driving the vehicle was not injured.
No charges have been laid as a result of the crash.
