Keeping track of your family photos and keepsakes in an organized and fun way is as easy as going into Parksville’s Scrapbookin’ Adventures and speaking with owner Jennifer Edwardson.

For three successful years, Jennifer and her wonderful staff have been in business, catering to people who want to creatively archive their memories for generations to come and have fun doing it. Scrapbookin’ Adventures, located at 175 Corfield St., has everything you need to help you get started and keep going.

For those people that have been scrapbooking for years, they have all the latest supplies and inspiration to help you keep on top of all of your photos too. Scrapbookin’ Adventures also specializes in teaching you how to create your own cards, mini albums and altered projects.

“We offer you so much more than supplies when you walk into our shop. Our customers enjoy customized crop nights, private workshops, bridal and baby showers, birthday parties, bridal consultations and more.

“We are a scrapbook retailer that specializes in customer service,” Jennifer says. “We opened in September of 2006 and continue to grow every day because of the amazing support we get locally, as well as from clients all over Vancouver Island.”

Jennifer and her team have a passion for creating and they truly love working with each person that comes into the shop.

“I am doing what I love every day,” Jennifer adds, “and it is something I am very thankful for.”

Helping people get started in the preservation of their photos is what Jennifer says she really enjoys.

“Watching someone create a project with their memories and then see them smile because of what they’ve accomplished is a pretty amazing feeling for me.

“Our business is based on superior customer service and education,” she says. “We work hard to give each person that comes through our doors an amazing experience.”

Scrapbookin’ Adventures has a team of eight fabulous, part-time staff and instructors.

“We are a talented and extremely committed team of women who provide an experience that customers won’t receive anywhere else. I am so lucky to have found the women that I get to share my days with. This business would not be where it is today without them.”

Jennifer says that anyone can enjoy creating and maintaining a scrapbook. Where she and her staff come in, is with helping people find their own creativity through the photos and memories they already have.

“We create and instruct workshops for the Regional District of Nanaimo,” Jennifer says, “as well as the local school district and for several non-profit groups throughout the community.”

Jennifer had worked as a retail supervisor for several years before she took time off to be a mom to Emma, 9, and Alexander 4.

“I had always wanted to own my own business and to have been able to do it in a community that I love is pretty incredible,” she says.

“Personally, it can be difficult to find the balance between being a wife and mother and a successful businesswoman, but it is completely worth every minute. I love what I do and have been able to meet so many creative people through this business that I may not have otherwise met.”

For anyone interested in starting their own business, Jennifer says they should make sure it’s their passion and be prepared to work hard.

“You need to love it to make it a success.”

For Jennifer, Scrapbookin’ Adventures is her passion, and she makes it her own success every day.
