The local Shift in Action group is showing the film, The Shift: Ambition to Meaning, at the Parksville Community Centre on Nov. 18.

The film features Dr. Wayne Dyer and explores the spiritual journey from ambition to meaning. It’s said to be about the shift from the ego constructs that people are taught early in life by parents and society — which promote achievement and accumulation — in contrast to a life of meaning, focused on serving and giving back.

Through intertwined stories of an overachieving businessman, a mother of two and a director trying to make a name for himself, the film is meant to inspire and teaches people to create a life of meaning.

The local group has shown several health related films and they have reserved the big Sea Side room at the community centre in the hopes of a big turnout, said organizer Eva Grodt.

This is not just a documentary with Wayne Dyer. It has a story line to it and has lots of humour in it, Grodt explained.

Check dyermovie.com for more or call Grodt at 250-954-1002 or evagrodt@telus.net for more on the group. Their next meeting is Nov. 12.

The film runs at 7 p.m., Wed. Nov. 18 at the Parksville Community Center. Admission by donation.
