Tanya Ayotte is at her wits' end, having not yet found her family's dog after it ran away during Canada Day in Parksville.

Archie, a cocker spaniel, wriggled from his collar at around 10 a.m. July 1 as Ayotte sat on Craig Street for the Canada Day parade.

"He was on his leash, but he slipped out of it and ran away," she said.

Archie — who may also answer to the name Ford — hasn't been seen since. Ayotte said she hopes someone has him and will be able to return him to his family.

Ayotte said she adopted Archie, who is three years old, and has taken care of him since. Archie, she continued, is black and tan and has a umbilical hernia. He also was being treated for an ear infection and his owner is concerned he might be sick.

If anyone has seen Archie or knows his whereabouts, Ayotte asks that you call her at 250-586-7772.
