Qualicum Beach residents gathered at the local Legion Wednesday to celebrate Canada Day.
The event featured Mayor Teunis Westbroek speaking about what it means to be Canadian and Legion Ladies Auxiliary president Dorothy Carney detailing some of the many accomplishments of her group over their 80 years of service to the community.
The small but enthusiastic crowd was then treated to a performance by the Arrowsmith Pipe Band and enjoyed some of the enormous Canada Cake supplied by Quality Foods.
