Attention to detail key to top performance
“It’s the performance that makes a difference.”
Those words are part of the “Vivien Sears Experience”. Vivien is a Realtor with Re/Max First Realty in Parksville and has found success in residential sales in the Oceanside area for the last nine years.
She is well-known in the community and is active as the President of the Oceanside Women’s Business Network, Vice-President of a local Beta Sigma Phi chapter, and is a committee chair for the Parksville/Qualicum Canadian Federation of University Women.as well as an ardent arts supporter Vivien says after spending 11 years in Real Estate in Prince George, moving to Vancouver Island and starting all over again meant she had to get back to basics, go out and meet people — and get involved.
“After her real estate career in Prince George, establishing a new business here nine years ago was a challenge of my faith in my own abilities,” she says.
“Not knowing anyone, I set out to meet as many new people through my involvement in the arts, my service clubs and through carefully thought out marketing.”
These days, Vivien says most of her business comes from personal, word-of-mouth, referrals.
That reputation, she continues, is bolstered by her attention to detail and her willingness to work hard for the client..
It’s the hard work, she says, which is key to success in business — especially when you’re working for yourself.
“I can rise or fall by my own efforts,” Vivien says. “To do well requires multiple talents and listening skills.”
Backing her up is Vivien’s extensive background in real estate, as well as her years in the British diplomatic corps, with Shell Oil (European tanker traffic) federal and provincial government management, human resources management and accounting.
As well, Vivien says she is self-motivated — and with no sick pay, no pensions, she says her business means, simply, just getting on with it.
This kaleidoscope of skills adds to that “Vivien Sears Experience”.
She approaches each day with the attitude that there’s the possibility of success — thanks to her own skills, a part-time assistant who is fabulous, and adherence to the golden rule.
“Always treat people as you would want to be treated,” she says, adding she cares about how her clients feel about their homes — whether they are selling or looking to buy.
Open and approachable, Vivien encourages people to come meet with her — and that goes for anyone looking to become a Realtor, as well as welcoming those people looking to buy or sell.
“Come in and see me, she says, “we will talk about the ups and downs, the thrills and chills.”
