The Beach Club is going to remove two trees, necessary for them to move their sales office in the RV park.
The resort hotel plans to demolish the original campground caretaker’s residence and office and move the sales office and display suite onto the location of the old building in the RV park, beside Community Park.
Two trees need to be removed to allow the construction of a new foundation at the location of the current caretaker’s residence.
A report from City of Parksville staff to city council on the application states because the property is within Development Permit Area No. 2 - Waterfront-Downtown and the application meets all development permit guidelines, “the Local Government Act does not provide council with the discretionary ability to ultimately deny permit issuance.”
The report added the Sustainable Community Builder Checklist was completed by the applicant and it is noteworthy as the plan calls for the re-use of a building rather than the demolition of both buildings.
