The B.C. Football Conference championship could be a beauty if the semifinal games were any indication.

While the V.I. Raiders were defeating the Okanagan Sun 25-16 Saturday at Caledonia Park, the South Surrey Rams and Victoria Rebels were involved in a barnburner in the Fraser Valley. The Rams ended up outscoring the Rebels 52-46. Surrey made its biggest impact Saturday on special teams, as Nick Downey returned the opening kickoff 90 yards and then added two punt-return TDs.

The Raiders and Rams meet Saturday (Oct. 31) at Caledonia Park. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

’Cats, Sooners go for Intergold

A day after the B.C. Football Conference determines its champion, the Canadian Junior Football League can start finalizing the Canadian Bowl.

The Prairie Football Conference champions, the Edmonton Wildcats, will be taking on the Ontario Football Conference champs, the Ottawa Sooners, in the Intergold Cup this Sunday (Nov. 1) in the nation’s capital. The Sooners defeated the St. Leonard Cougars 14-11 Sunday in the OFC final, while the ’Cats defeated the Saskatoon Hilltops 33-20 earlier this month.
