Island soccer association passes ball to AIDS orphans

Some Ugandan orphans will have a chance to get in the game, thanks partly to the generosity of Nanaimo soccer.

The Upper Island Soccer Association and its member clubs have been able to fill 20 boxes of soccer supplies and equipment that it will direct to African Youth Ministries, a non-governmental organization that works with AIDS orphans in Uganda. The UISA has been collecting equipment since a visit from African Youth Ministries’ Albert Kunihita visited the Island last summer to bring attention to his cause.

Total Delivery Systems will transport the boxes to Vancouver, where a high school soccer team is finalizing arrangements for a container to be shipped to Uganda.
