Nanaimo Mounties looking for robbery suspect

Nanaimo RCMP are searching for the suspect behind a gas station robbery on the weekend.

The Petro-Canada gas station at the Island Highway/Norwell Drive intersection was robbed Saturday at 6:45 p.m.

Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, said a man brandishing a small knife walked behind the cash counter, shoved the clerk out of the way, grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 25-30 years old, 5'11" in height and 180 pounds, with a large nose, square jaw and sunken dark bags under his eyes. He was wearing dark clothing including a hoodie and skateboarding shoes.
