David Essig and Rick Scott have one foot on the mountain and one foot in the swamp with blues, bluegrass, R&B and old-time country influencing their music.
The Canadian folk singers present Double Vision, an acoustic roots concert, with guest Shelley Brown on bass, Sunday (Oct. 25), 7:30 p.m., at Nanaimo Centre Stage.
Essig and Scott combine guitar, dulcimer and vocal harmonies in songs of life, love and loss, seasoned with wit and kindness.
The two musicians have careers that take them around the world and after crossing paths on folk festival main stages for more than 35 years, they are now neighbours on Protection Island.
Essig, a renowned producer and engineer, recorded and played 18 instruments on Double Vision at his home studio, Watershed.
Scott is a dulcimer wizard and lead singer of Canadian folk trio Pied Pumkin. His 18 album-discography includes seven children’s albums, which earned three Juno nominations and a Canadian Folk Music Award.
Tickets $20 at the Thirsty Camel, Falconer Books or Centre Stage by calling 250-714-0050. For more information, please visit www.myspace.com/davidessigrickscott.
